Philosophy
At Sargent Center, we provide neurodiversity-affirming services that address the unique speech, language, and functional communication needs of students. Our goal is to provide comprehensive support empowering students to express themselves effectively and engage meaningfully using any modality.
Approach
Our team embraces evidence-based practices while recognizing the importance of individualized intervention tailored to each student’s specific needs and preferences. We work closely with families, educators, therapists, and other professionals to create a supportive network around the student, developing communication skills not only in structured therapy sessions but also within functional and academic contexts throughout their school day.
We provide a collaborative and unique therapy approach which involves direct services such as one-to-one and group sessions within a variety of settings including but not limited to the therapy room, classrooms, sensory gym, playground, and community.
We also provide consultative and indirect services to members of the special education team which involves providing education, training, and coaching to maximize students’ receptive and expressive language and functional communication skills throughout their day. Our approach also incorporates our expertise in various augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) and assistive technology needs.
