Philosophy
Our Behavior Team is committed to supporting the prevention and management of challenging, disruptive, and unsafe behavior to ensure the safety and well-being of all students. We use a combination of observation, data collection, and interviews with other staff and family members to identify patterns that may indicate why challenging behavior is occurring.
Approach
Using evidence-based intervention practices, Behavior Support Plans are implemented to emphasize prevention, positive reinforcement, and safe alternative behaviors. Our Behavior Team diligently trains all Sargent staff annually in Quality Behavior Solutions (QBS) Safety Care to implement evidence-based de-escalation strategies and safe physical management procedures.
Our team works closely with other staff members including Special Education teachers, teacher aides, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Pathologists, Social Worker, and the School Psychologist to ensure each student’s needs are met. Our team also works collaboratively with school districts, parents, medication prescribers, and other agencies providing services to students to support continuity of care outside of our school environment.

- Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA)
- Positive Reinforcement
- Behavior Support Plans
